General Information: The Apprentice Lineman's duties include learning how to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair the Douglas County electrical transmission and distribution system. This position requires a long term commitment to successfully complete the District's Lineman apprenticeship program. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of the Distribution Operations Supervisor or his designee.
Perform all duties in a safe manner in accordance with policy and procedure
Work cooperatively and respectfully in a crew environment
Install, maintain and repair electrical system components
Use hand and power tools to perform daily work
Safely operate crew and line trucks as well as other necessary equipment
Must participate in DOT alcohol and drug testing, including marijuana, in compliance with FMCSA regulations
Climb poles and other structures
Work outside in all types of weather conditions
Other duties may be assigned
Successful applicants must have:
Satisfactory completion of high school education or equivalent
Ability to interact with co-workers, vendors, and the public in a positive manner
Ability to operate equipment for distribution work including backhoes, large trucks, forklifts, boom trucks and other vehicles and equipment as required.

Valid Washington State Class A CDL Driver License and evidence of good driving record
Physical requirements: Applicants must be physically able to work in outdoor environments and all weather conditions; able to walk over uneven terrain, climb ladders and structures; be able to distinguish basic colors; lift objects weighing up to 75 pounds; must have a full range of hearing and sight for personal safety as well as safety of co-workers and the public.
Candidates with two years of college, appropriate trade school training, or experience in the line construction trade are preferred.
The successful applicant must become a member of Local No. 77, I.B.E.W. within 30 days of employment. There is a one-year probationary period associated with this position.
